The Best Pilates Grip Socks

This article will review many of the main pilates sock brands. If you’re in need of a quick purchase check out the best Pilates Grip Socks on Amazon.

Why do we wear grip socks in Pilates and Barre?

In pilates and barre, having the right grip is essential for maintaining proper form and preventing injuries. Pilates grip socks also provide a hygienic barrier between your feet and shared equipment, which is why many pilates and barre studios require them.

Pilates grip socks have non slip grips and provide traction. There are three main varieties of grip socks for pilates: toe socks, half toe socks, and regular socks. Pilates socks are hygienic in a studio setting. And if you do pilates at the house wearing grip socks will help you maintain form and help prevent slipping.

We considered 16 different brands of pilates and barre grip socks. And here are the best pilates grip socks:

Knitido+ - Best for Form & Function

Pilates Toe Grip Socks with organic cotton. Barre Grip Socks with toes
Knitido+ Pilates Grip Socks

Knitido+ socks take the cake for best with form and function. I’m not going to lie, it took a lot in me to give in to toe socks. I thought they can’t be so much better that it's worth sacrificing all your style points, right? But the truth is toe socks are better for holding your poses and maintaining proper form. In addition, your toes articulate and build muscle too. These socks are made in Japan by craftsmen in “sock city.”

PROS:

Patented Power Pads - “Power Pads deliver ultimate balance and comfort by supporting the foot’s three arches, absorbing friction and reducing the strain in your stride.” YES, they’re really comfortable.

Strong grips- I’ve never seen any grip socks that have U shaped grips, but I find these to be grippier than the traditional circles.

Toe separation and articulation- helps you maintain your form and hold your poses.

Soft and Sustainable - These socks are made from 87% OCS Certified Organic Cotton and are botanical dyed. They are incredibly breathable and comfortable.

Three Dimensional Fit - “the world's first three-dimensional and seamless toe socks made with Shima Seiki's WHOLEGARMENT seamless knitting machines.”

CONS

More expensive than other options you can buy. (Pro-Tip buy from Narasocks.com and get 25% off if you purchase 5 pairs or more)

Lack of cute designs  - these socks are all function. As someone who wears socks at style point. I wish they had some different style options.

Tavi Pilates Grip Socks - Best Fitting Regular Grip Socks

Tavi Active Pilates Grip Socks

I tried not one but two different types of Tavi pilates grip socks. Both pairs were hands down the best regular pilates grip socks for a few different reasons. I am a regular crew sock girl. If you see me out on the town I am wearing crew socks, not toe socks. So if you’re like me, and want a versatile sock to wear after class this is it.

PROS:

Strong grip - these socks are ideal for anyone doing pilates or barre. The grip is strong and you will not slide around.

Tight sock - When you are doing a pose that requires alot of push or balance on your foot the sock stays put. Many other sock brands would have loose fabric that would cause some sliding.

Soft and Sustainable - these socks are incredibly soft, breathable, and moisture wicking. Tavi uses 73% organic cotton making it a more sustainable option. But lets be honest, the softness of these socks is unparalleled.

CONS: More expensive than other options you can buy..

Toe socks are better for holding poses. Although I am not a big toe sock girl (I love the crew sock aesthetic) there is no denying that toe socks are better for foot and toe articulation, holding poses, and less “sliding” of the sock.

Despite the price increase if you plan on being consistent with your pilates or barre practice it is absolutely worth it. Having pilates socks that fit improperly can cause poor form, slipping, and injury. Because these socks are constructed better they will fit you better.

If you’re lost between buying regular grip socks and toe socks check out this article:

Verdancy Grip Socks - Best for the Price

Verdancy Pilates and Barre Grip Socks

Many of the socks that I tried on below this price point I wouldn’t recommend. Cheaper socks are not fitted to the foot and leave excess fabric so when you stand in certain poses your feet slide around. These socks were fit quite well and are cheaper than the other socks mentioned.

PROS:

Soft and Breathable - these socks are made from a higher quality cotton. With many of the socks I tried on Amazon even if it listed cotton as a material used, I felt like it trapped sweat and these were incredibly breathable and soft.

Fitted to form your foot's natural curves - Do you see the scrunchy part in the middle? This helps keep the sock fitted to your foot so you don’t have loose material.

Thin Material - These socks definitely give you a barefoot feel because they do not constrain your foot and the thin material lets you feel grounded.

Colors and Styles- They offer alot of colors and style options.

CONS:

Thin Material - Although this is a pro in some regards, it's also a con. I would imagine these socks are not as durable.

Lack of grips on heels - If you’re putting your heels on for footwork, these socks won’t be ideal.

Best Style Options -  Move Active

Move Active Pilates and Barre Grip Socks

My first introduction to this brand was at Club Pilates. I forgot my socks and had to buy some there. These socks met all my expectations for a good Pilates grip sock. They do have way cuter options than most brands.

PROS:

Soft and Breathable - these socks are made from a higher quality cotton.

Fitted to form your foot's natural curves - Do you see the scrunchy part in the middle? This helps keep the sock fitted to your foot so you don’t have loose material.

Colors and Styles- They offer the most colors and options for Pilates and Barre Grip sock brands.

Grips go all the way to outer heel -  believe it or not, may socks fall short on the grippies.

CONS:

More expensive than other options you can buy..

Material is on the thinner side
